Helping out at shows
Setting up and taking down.
The biggest job on show day yet one of the least volunteered for!   What this entails is the setting up of the tables and pens at the start of the day and taking them all down again after the show has finished.   Anyone who can get to the show a bit earlier or who can stay behind, EVEN FOR JUST TEN MINUTES, after judging has ended is always VERY welcome indeed!   There will always be members there to help you if you are unsure what to do.

Shows are hard work and depend on the help of kind souls like yourself to help things to run smoothly on the day!   Please do mention whether or not you wish to help with one of the following jobs whilst making your entries for a particular show as it will be appreciated;

Stewarding.
Most judges require a couple of stewards to bring the pigs to the table and then return them to their pens after being judged.   This job will keep you busy throughout the show and do afford you the opportunity to listen to the judge and learn more about the breeds.

Book stewarding.
Most judges will ask for a book steward to do his/her paperwork whilst they judge.   This job needs a bit of knowledge about what goes on and a bit of practice.   It's maybe best to start Book Stewarding for Juveniles & Pets and then progress to the Open classes when you feel more confident.   However, it is not as difficult as it may appear and again gives you the chance to listen to the judge , finding out about what they are looking for and often it can be good fun with the right judge!

Selling Raffle Tickets.
Most clubs run a raffle and the Midlands is no exception!   These are vital to the financial stability of the Club.   Most members are happy to buy tickets so no hard selling is ever neccessary.   Also, any small items suitable as prizes are very gratefully received!

Putting out Prize Cards.
Once classes have been judged and the cards written out, they then need to be put on the right pens asap.   The only requirement for this job is the ability to read the pen number on the card and put   it onto the right pen.

Helping out in the canteen.
The canteen can get very busy, especially around lunch time!   Anyone who can help make drinks or serve food is very welcome!

The above are just a few of the jobs that a member can help out with.
